Our Volunteer Mediators are an essential part of Ashford Mediation Service and help us provide a service of mediation to those in dispute and experiencing conflict in the Borough of Ashford. By doing good for other people and the local community you can receive a sense of accomplishment. Being a volunteer can help boost your self-esteem, self-confidence and life experiences and satisfaction. Our Volunteer Mediators carry a great pride in the support they offer, and the role can give you a sense of identity. The role of a mediator is to help people find relief from conflict, anger and stress. Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities. This week is Volunteers' Week and the 39th edition of the event. Volunteers' Week runs from the 1st to 7th June each year. About Ashford Mediation Service In 1997 Ashford Mediation Service was established to promote, for the public benefit and for the better preservation of public order, the provision of a mediation service area covered by Ashford Borough Council.  We work with individuals, organisations, authorities or groups involved in or likely to become involved in, dispute or conflict which results from or may lead to acts of nuisance, vandalism, racial abuse, unlawful activity, breach of the peace or breakdown of public order and to advance the education of the public. Our trained volunteer mediators act as peacemakers, helping members of the community to reach a mutually acceptable solution to their problems.
